Prickly Pear Cactus

Yesterdays balmy 50 degrees was a little lacking so I decided to paint in my 'studio' slash living room.  It was really chilly outdoors, and I wanted to 'think warm'.   We had the opportunity to take loads of wonderful photographs this summer, and one of my favorites was the Prickly Pear Cactus.  I recently saw some painting done by Matt Smith, and thought the cactus would be a great subject.  Here is is, along with the photo reference.
